Investigates identity through integration, memory, and becoming.

Statement

Past Lives explores the layered nature of identity. Created between 2023 and 2024, these digital collages emerged alongside a broader return to artistic practice. During this period, I found myself reflecting on the many versions of myself that had existed across a single lifetime—not as separate people, but as identities shaped by different experiences, aspirations, disappointments, and possibilities.

Each composition combines fragments into a single image, suggesting that identity is never singular or fixed. We continually carry traces of who we have been, even as we imagine who we might become.

The title Past Lives remains intentionally open. It speaks to the poetic feeling that we live many lives within one lifetime—that each major transformation asks us to let go of one version of ourselves while quietly carrying parts of that identity forward.

Looking back, I see these works as extending questions that continue to shape my practice:

How does identity evolve?

What do we carry with us?

Can we become someone new without losing who we have been?

The collages do not attempt to answer these questions. They hold space for them.

Finding

Becoming does not require leaving ourselves behind. It asks us to integrate every version of who we have been.
